History of Mike Rose's Auto Body

-back to "About Us"

Mike Rose's Auto Body was formed in 1972 and later reorganized in 1980 as a corporation under the name of Mike Rose's Auto Body, Inc. serving the communities throughout Contra Costa County for collision repair and painting. The Company's service area has experienced dramatic growth in the last decade. As the population of Contra Costa has grown, so has the demand for vehicle repairs done by qualified repair facilities. In February 1993, we opened a second location in Walnut Creek called Mike Rose's Auto Body, Inc. of Walnut Creek to service the need in that area.

Toward the end of 1994, the opportunity to purchase another building became available. With the growth over the past twenty years, Mike Rose felt the opportunity for expansion was obtainable in this building. With new technology, his ideas to build a modern facility were soon to take place. During the next six months, he built another facility in Concord with the finest equipment available in today's market. This shop, known as our VDM location, is the headquarters for Mike Rose's Auto Body, Inc.

As time moves forward, another opportunity existed to purchase another building in Walnut Creek. With the growth of our existing Walnut Creek facility and the increased market, it was time to expand. During 1996 the purchase was complete and construction began early 1997. This shop is equipped to meet today's demands of modern repair technology. This is our location on North Main Street in Walnut Creek which was opened May 1997. With the growth, we've experienced in Walnut Creek, the building across the street from our original North Broadway location became available. It was a two story office building but with the vision of Mike, he saw the possibility of converting this building into another Repair Facility. Over the course of time and many meetings with City planners the next building would be started. In December 1999 Mike's vision was completed. With the limited space available in Walnut Creek and requirements by City officials, the facility was completed and the move began from our existing location to a modern facility completed across the street.

In 2005 the opportunity to expand out to East County opened up and Mike Rose once again decided it was a perfect time to expand and establish his footprint in Antioch. East County had seen a tremendous growth in new houses, moving residence from the central county out that way, the timing was just right as our reputation followed us.

A year later, the opportunity for growth once again presented itself and once again, Mike Rose invested in East County and opened up his sixth shop in Brentwood. This 18000 square foot facility was in a prime area of Brentwood and it did not take long for Mike and his team to establish themselves as a reputable Collision Repair Center in Brentwood.

In late 2007, Mike Rose purchased a state-of –the-art facility in Pittsburg, formerly American Auto Body. Store number seven added an additional 24,000 square feet of capacity to Mike Rose's Auto Body, Inc., increased our East County exposure, and proved to be a wise investment in an uncertain economy.

In 2010, along with his daughter Ragen and son Brennan, the Rose’s took a chance and purchased the old Antioch Dodge dealership on the corner of Auto Center Drive and the old Pittsburg Hwy. The Rose’s turned a vacant, old and run down corner and transformed it into a state of the art facility. It can be argued there are few facilities in the world that can match the elegance of this shop. The transformation of this location helped to revitalize the gateway to the Delta and has left all of us at Mike Rose’s Auto Body proud. In April of 2011 Mike’s Antioch moved into its new home and increased its exposure in the Antioch community.

In late 2011 Mike once again saw an opportunity for growth and opened up his eighth location in the city of Lafayette. The opening of this location expands Mike’s presence in Contra Costa County and allows the capacity of the organization to once again present itself to a new community.

Beginning in 1972, we employed less than five employees with a maximum of 3,000 square footage of working space. Today, we employ over 200 employees working with nearly 140,000 square footage of space. We have grown with the communities and employ a variety of talent within our organization. 2012 marks Mike’s 40th year in business. Our company is proud of its growth and will continue to grow as the demand expands and is always in search of quality employees with ability for advancement. The growth will always continue as Mike has passed onto his children his integrity and commitment to quality and customer service. Because of this, the visions of Mike will never stop.
